It’s time again for the monthly Salt Lake Gallery Stroll that offers art lovers a chance to see some local art, meet local artists and, yes, drink a little wine. Art by and about women seems to be a popular theme this month.
Finch Lane » Fahimeh Amiri offers a look into the history and culture of Iran in her show "Reaching for Liberty." With brilliant colors, intelligence and impeccable technique, Amiri juxtaposes the rule of the Persian king Darius the Great (522 to 486 B.C.), who granted great freedom to women, against Iran’s modern Islamic regime that would cover women in black and bar them from public life. It’s a timely show, with an international clash with Iran looming ever larger in the news.
