If there’s one event better than a night out in the theater with Sister Dottie S. Dixon, it’s a night out at the theater plus a fundraiser with Sister Dottie S. Dixon.

Only Salt Lake Acting Company offers both. Or even the night of theater by itself, in fact.

Those with a soft spot in their heart for equality, and end to bullying and great local theater will want both on the bill for Feb. 17, the evening of Dottie’s "Circle of Love" fundraiser for GLBT rights and SLAC’s ever onward mission to incubate and stage works by local playwrights.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with dinner catered by Stoneground, drinks and a "mix-and-mingle" with the woman of the hour, Sister Dottie S. Dixon.

Then it’s showtime. "Dottie: The Sister Lives On!" continues in the grand tradition of Charles Lynn Frost’s famed character as the Mormon mother who loves, supports and cherishes her gay son Donnie P. Dixon, as well as equal rights and tolerance for all of the GLBT fold. Her new show is a loving odyssey of the ups and downs of "Spanish Fark" life including casserole recipes, sex tapes, son Donnie’s new boyfriend, travels in her black Escalade and love enough for everyone.

A night to remember, then.
