The Metropolitan Opera, and your local movie theater, want to add a little opera to your holidays.

The Met's "Met Live in HD" program, which beams live opera productions to theaters nationwide, is presenting two encores this week: Mozart's "The Magic Flute" on Wednesday night (Dec. 21), and Engelbert Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel" on Thursday , Dec. 22.

Both productions are abridged, and sung in English, so the kids won't get too bored.

Screenings start at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Tickets range from $8.50 to $11.50, depending on location and patron age (there are discounts for seniors and children), and are available at http://www.fathomevents.com.
