If you don’t already have your tickets for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s annual Christmas concerts, running Thursday, Dec. 15, through Saturday, Dec. 17, at the LDS Conference Center at Main Street and North Temple, the odds of getting in are slim.
Slim, but not nonexistent.
There is a standby line, at the north gate of Temple Square. Get there early, wait patiently, and event staff will seat you if space is available. (Doors will open for ticket holders 90 minutes before showtime, and ticketholders are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the show starts so staff can see if any spaces are available for the folks in line.)
As an alternative, there will be overflow seating in other Temple Square buildings, where the concert featuring opera singer Nathan Gunn and narrator Jane Seymour will be piped in. Or you can stay home and watch last year’s show, with David Archuleta and narrator Michael York, on TV.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas concerts are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight, and 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-17. The choir, Gunn and Seymour also will broadcast "Music and the Spoken Word" Sunday at 9:30 a.m., with a mini-concert to follow.
