Is Salt Lake City "the new vegan hotspot"?

"We're betting on it," write the people behind VegNews magazine.

VegNews publishers Joseph Connelly and Colleen Holland took a "long weekend" tour of Salt Lake City's vegan and vegetarian locales earlier this month — and posted 182 photos of their adventure on the magazine's Facebook page.

Connelly and Holland hit City Cakes Cafe, Sage's Cafe, Vertical Diner (pictured), Evergreen House Cafe, Cakewalk, Omar's Rawtopia, Cali's Natural Foods Market, The Pie Pizzeria (which has a vegan menu), Cedars of Lebanon (which bills itself as "vegan friendly"), Chanon Thai Cafe and Squatters. They also found two veggie food carts, City Dogs and Union St. Eats, and took a tour of Ching Farm Rescue & Sanctuary.

They were so impressed that, on the way out of town, they hit City Cakes again and took a box of goodies back to their office in San Francisco.
