In 1982, the marriage of Marie Osmond and Steve Craig was Utah's version of a royal wedding.

LDS general authority Paul H. Dunn presided at the Salt Lake Temple. Osmond wore a gown made from 35 yards of silk — with a 16-foot train — by Emmy-winning costume designer Ret Turner. More than 4,000 people attended the wedding reception.

On Wednesday, Osmond and Craig remarried a quarter of a century after their divorce, this time with as little fanfare as possible.

According to www.etonline, Osmond wore the same dress she did when she and Craig got married in 1982.

Reached for comment, Marie's brother, Jay, confirmed that the couple were married in the Las Vegas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But, like many other members of the family, he wasn't in attendance.

"This was a last-minute thing," Donny Osmond told "Entertainment Tonight." "Not very many people knew about it. Marie told me so I had to keep it very quiet. She wanted it simple, and that's what it was."

Many members of their family were taken by surprise. "Holy cow," said Aaron Osmond, Marie's nephew and Utah state senator. "We were not aware [of the wedding], but we're excited for them and wish them the best."

Osmond and Craig, a former Brigham Young University basketball player, had a son, Stephen James Craig, in 1983. They divorced in 1985, with Osmond citing "mental cruelty" in her divorce petition.

In 1986, Osmond married Brian Blosil. They had seven children, but that marriage ended in divorce in 2007. Three years later, their son Michael committed suicide.

Osmond and Craig "reconnected," and he supported her in "the difficult time after the divorce and the death of her son," Aaron Osmond said. "They were dating, and everyone was kind of excited about it because there was a connection again. We wished them well, but none of us anticipated a wedding right away."

May 4 is also the birthday of Osmond's late mother, Olive, and son Michael.

"Steve has always been a very special part of Marie's heart," Donny Osmond told "ET." "It was a perfect Cinderella story with a fairy-tale ending. They were sealed together again, forever. My sister is so happy."
