ABC 4 confirmed Saturday that news director Pat Livingston is no longer employed at the Salt Lake City television station.

Station manager Matt Jaquint would not discuss the reasons for Livingston's departure. Assistant news director Shawana Perry will step into Livingston's duties until a permanent replacement is found, Jaquint said.

Livingston had been news director at the station a little more than a year, having left a news division chief post in Toledo, Ohio, to move to Salt Lake City in January 2010.

Efforts to reach Livingston for comment Saturday were not immediately successful.

Jaquint said Saturday that ABC 4 would continue to make moves to strengthen its programming.

"We offer nine hours of local programming a day, more than any other station in the state," Jaquint said. "We're committed to continuing that. We're looking forward to a bright future."

Recent ratings show the station behind KUTV News, KSL News and Fox 13 News in audience share.
