Met Opera auditions

The Utah District Metropolitan Opera National Council will hold auditions for aspiring opera singers. Feedback will be provided by judge Samuel Ramey, bass-baritone and the 1972 winner of the Met Opera's national auditions. The panel of judges also includes William Powers, director of artistic administration for Pittsburgh Opera, and Brad Trexell, director of artistic planning for Opera Colorado.

When • Jan. 7, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Jan. 8, 3 p.m.

Where • Libby Gardner Hall, 1375 E. Presidents Circle, University of Utah campus, Salt Lake City

'Sunset Boulevard'

Pioneer Theatre Company holds auditions for "Sunset Boulevard," a stage adaptation of the film by Billy Wilder with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Auditions are open to Equity and non-AEA actors 18 and older. Come prepared to sing a Broadway-style song. An accompanist will be provided, but actors must bring sheet music. A photo and résumé are recommended.

When • Jan. 7, noon-1 p.m. for AEA actors; 1-5 p.m. for open auditions.

Where • Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre, 1400 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City
