Art of the Resistance

In "Paths of Resistance: Indigenous Survival in the Americas," visual works, music, poetry and films by more than a dozen artists, including Ruby Chacón, Borish, Melanie Cervantes, Jesus Barraza, Kalax and Jimmy Lucero, honor the battle for rights of indigenous people in the Americas.

Hop on top of Seuss exhibits

A show of the art of Dr. Seuss at the Redstone Gallery in Kimball Junction is actually three exhibits: "The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss," "Unorthodox Taxidermy Collection" and "The Bronze Collection," featuring drawings, serigraphs, paintings and even sculptures of immortal Seuss characters. For the record, the Seuss taxidermy is resin wall mounts of the Andoluvian Grackler and the Sludge Tarpon.

U.S. 89 — then and now

The author of a U.S. 89 photo book about the national parks and small towns along the highway down the backbone of Utah will speak at the Kimball Art Center, where she will be surrounded by early photographs of Ansel Adams. Photographer Ann Torrence says she retraced some of Adams' Western journeys, but the landscape has changed: "Thanks to the national parks, much of what Adams photographed remains magnificently pristine. Outside the park boundaries, we find a different story."
