Show of the week • The 56-year-old comedian was a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" from 1986 to 1995, is now Doug Wilson on the Showtime series "Weeds," and this weekend will perform stand-up in West Valley City for the second time. On "Saturday Night Live," he was best known as Subliminal Message Man, Franz of Hans and Franz, Mr. No Depth Perception, and anchor of "Weekend Update." During his final episode on "Weekend Update," Nealon passed on the position to Norm MacDonald by kissing him on the lips, and signed off, saying "I'm Kevin Nealon, and that's news to me." His most recent film parts were in Adam Sandler's "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" and "Get Smart," both from 2008.

Matt Costa

This 28-year-old folk-rocking singer-songwriter from Southern California has opened for Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse, Oasis, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Death Cab for Cutie. "Mobile Chateau," Costa's third full-length album, was released on Johnson's Brushfire Records on Sept. 21.

Street Dogs

In 1998, Mike McColgan left Dropkick Murphys to become a firefighter for the Boston Fire Department, but four years later he returned to music to create the punk-rock band Street Dogs. The band released its fifth album, "Street Dogs," on Aug. 31.

Jónsi

Jón "Jónsi" Þór Birgisson is the guitarist and singer for the Icelandic avant-garde band Sigur Rós. In January, Jónsi announced that Sigur Rós was on an indefinite hiatus and he was developing a solo career. He released his debut studio album, "Go," in April.

The Apples in stereo

The band is led by singer and guitarist Robert Schneider, along with John Hill (rhythm guitar), Eric Allen (bass), Bill Doss (keyboards), John Dufilho (drums) and John Ferguson (keyboards).

of Montreal

Hailing from R.E.M.'s hometown of Athens, Ga., of Montreal's stage shows have become legendary and the focus of a Rolling Stone feature. The baroque-pop band's most recent album is 2010's "False Priest," and Janelle Monáe, also on the bill, performs on the album.

Lyrics Born, Chali 2na, Rakaa

The State Room hosts a night of hip-hop with headliner Lyrics Born, a Japanese-American rapper who spent some of his childhood in Salt Lake City as well as Tokyo. Chali 2na is a rapper who used to be with Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli. Rakaa is a member of Dilated Peoples.

Ingrid Michaelson

Avi Buffalo

Deer Tick
