Dining news and notes: Two Utah favorites, one meal

Two Utah favorites — MacCool's restaurant and Wasatch Brewery — come together on Thursday, Sept. 16, for a fall beer pairing dinner. MacCool's chef Matt Jewell will prepare a four-course meal with autumn flavors including spiced pumpkin soup, PEI mussels, rack of pork and banana-chocolate brownie s'mores. Wasatch Brewmaster Matt Beamer will pair each course with a different beer. The dinner begins at 6:45 p.m. at the Salt Lake City MacCool's, 1400 S. Foothill Drive. Sweet win for Ogden chocolatier

Ruth Kendrick, co-founder of Chocolot Artisan Chocolates, earned "Top Artisan Chocolatier" honors at the 2010 Las Vegas Chocolate Salon last month. It was one of 12 awards the Ogden company received at the competition, sponsored by TasteTV. Chocolot also received top awards for its milk chocolate, traditional chocolates and toffee.
