'Voyeur' extends its run
Salt Lake Acting Company extends its run of "Saturday's Voyeur 2010: The Year That Was" through Sept. 12. The musical satire interprets choice headlines from Utah newspapers from the past 15 months, including kissing on Main St. Plaza, Rep. Jason Chaffetz's effort to ban whole-body imaging at airports and Sarah Palin's visit to the Beehive state to read at Costco.

A tamer 'Shrew' at BYU
Brigham Young University's department of theater and media arts will perform Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." It's the classic story of Petruchio, who tries to win the love of Kate, a bad-tempered and sharped-tongued woman. In this production, directed by David Morgan, audience members will decide if Petruchio's methods are the best way to win over Kate. The play has been adapted for kids 2-11 and will last just an hour, and be presented as a circus act with clowns, slapsticks and puppets.

A new play: 'Yellow'
Spotlight Productions presents a new original play "Yellow," by local playwright Brittany Bullen. The play chronicles the story of Harriet Foster, who has recently died of cancer. Her daughter Greta narrates snapshots from the past via a memoir her mother left behind. Greta learns new and difficult truths about her family and must decide how to come to terms with the past.
