Provo • Games against Oregon, Iowa State, Stanford, Texas and three in-state foes highlight BYU men's basketball's 2013-14 nonconference schedule, released Thursday by head coach Dave Rose.

"This is a terrific nonconference schedule that will really help our team for league play," Rose said. "It is a compliment to our program to be invited to play in the College Basketball Experience Tournament [in Kansas City]. We will face many tests and teams from coast to coast."

In all, the Cougars will play six home nonconference games at the Marriott Center, three true road games and four neutral-site games before opening West Coast Conference play on Dec. 28. The WCC schedule will be released next week.

Continuing to play the state's other top men's college basketball programs on a yearly basis, BYU will open the season on Nov. 8 against Weber State. BYU and Utah State will meet on a neutral floor — Salt Lake City's EnergySolutions Arena — on Nov. 30. The Cougars will travel to Salt Lake City again on Dec. 14 to play Utah at the Huntsman Center.

Three days after their home opener, the Cougars will play at the Pac-12's Stanford in the opener of the sixth annual ESPN Tip-Off Marathon. Tipoff for that game is at 9 p.m. MT, and it will be televised by ESPN2.

The CBE Hall of Fame Classic tournament for BYU actually begins Nov. 14 and 16 in Provo against teams that have yet to be named. The Cougars will remain home for a showdown with Iowa State of the Big 12 on Nov. 20, hoping to exact some revenge for a lopsided loss at the hands of the Cyclones last year in Ames, Iowa.

BYU will continue play in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City against Texas on Nov. 25, and then either DePaul or Wichita State on Nov. 26.

Home games against North Texas (Dec. 3) and Prairie View (Dec. 11) will sandwich a trip to Springfield, Mass., where BYU will play UMass at the MassMutual Center on Dec. 7, which is about 30 miles from the UMass campus.

The nonconference schedule concludes with a game at Oregon on Dec. 21. Tipoff times and broadcast plans for most games will be announced at a later date. —
