Lea Garner and Amanda Keith mirrored an improved performance by the BYU women's golf team as both fired a second round 76 to lead BYU to a three-way tie for seventh place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Tuesday.

The Cougars shaved nine strokes off their opening round score and shot a second round 313 in windy conditions at Ocotillo Golf Resort. Garner shot a consistent round finishing with one birdie and 13 pars, while Keith added four birdies and nine pars of her own.

Meanwhile, senior Jordyn Dougal's 72, combined with a 3-over 75 from sophomore Lynn-Marie Nagel helped Utah Valley move up three spots to 11th place heading into Wednesday's final round.

Dougal, playing with Seattle's Clare Sorensen and Northern Colorado's Libby Avery, birdied the first hole and the fourth hole to move to 2-under for the day. She bogeyed the fifth and the seventh to drop back to even par before making par on her final 11 holes.

Southern Utah's women's golf team shaved 36 strokes off its opening round score but the Thunderbirds weren't able to move up from 19th place.
