Moraga, Calif. • Brandon Davies has scored 12 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field, and BYU leads Saint Mary's 32-28 at halftime at McKeon Pavilion.

BYU is trying to get revenge for last month's 70-69 loss at the Marriott Center to Saint Mary's with fairly positive results for the Cougars through 20 minutes.

BYU is shooting 57.1 percent from the field and holding the Gaels to 30.8.

Matthew Dellavedova, who hit the buzzer-beater to beat BYU in Provo, is 3 for 8 from the field for eight ponits. Beau Levesque also has eight for SMC.

The Cougars couldn't have asked for a better start. With the Gaels misfiring from 3-point range on their end, the Cougars took it to the basket early and jumped to a 13-6 lead on a Davies jumper with 14:22 left in the first half.

But Brad Waldow had a putback basket, Levesque made a three-point play, and Dellavedova nailed a fadeaway over Nate Austin to get SMC back quickly.

The lead see-sawed from there, but the Gaels got into the bonus at the eight-minute mark, when team fouls were 7-2 against BYU, and stayed in it despite going more than six minutes without a field goal.

Davies' inside shot over Kyle Rowley gave the Cougars a 25-22 lead with five minutes left in the half.

Dellavedova's 3-pointer broke the Gaels' field-goal drought with 3:35 left, but Raul Delgado answered the trey for BYU.
