The BYU women's basketball team ended Utah's perfect run, beating the Utes 53-48 at the Huntsman Center on Saturday afternoon.

Point guard Haley Steed scored 22 points for the Cougars, including four free throws down the stretch to seal the game.

Utah's Taryn Wicijowski scored 16 and grabbed 15 rebounds and Michelle Plouffe added 15 points, but a poor shooting performance doomed the Utes. The team shot just 25.5 percent from the field for the game.

With the win, BYU improves to 5-4. Utah falls to 7-1.
