Wednesday’s scheduled college basketball game between BYU and Utah State at the Marriott Center in Provo has been postponed, BYU and USU officials announced Wednesday morning.
As reported by The Salt Lake Tribune on Tuesday evening, officials decided to postpone the contest due to the serious medical condition of Utah State basketball player Danny Berger.
The junior from Medford, Ore., collapsed during practice in Logan on Tuesday and his heart stopped.
Berger had his heart re-started by an automatic external defibrillator and was taken to a local hospital before being flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
A Utah State news release Wednesday morning described Berger as being in "critical condition" at IMC and said tests and evaluations are ongoing."
Both schools’ releases said the game will be rescheduled for a later date, but do not provide specifics.
