Provo • Tyler Haws scored eight points in the final four minutes to spur a late BYU run as the Cougars outlasted Cal State Northridge 87-75 Saturday in the Marriott Center.
Haws finished with 32 points, while the Cougars (4-2) clamped down on defense, holding the Matadors (6-1) scoreless for nearly four minutes. CSUN came back from nine down to take a 1-point lead.

It was a mirror image of the first half. BYU pulled away from Cal State Northridge late to take a 46-40 lead into intermission.
Brock Zylstra buried a pair of 3-point baskets midway through the second half to keep the Matadors at bay. He finished with 14 points, while Brandon Davies added 12 with a team-high eight rebounds.
