Former Brigham Young University volleyball players Rich Lambourne and Russell Holmes were among those named Thursday to the U.S. men's team that will compete at the London Olympics.
Fellow former Cougar player and coach Ryan Millar, however, was not chosen depriving him a fourth Olympics.
A resident of Alpine, the 34-year-old Millar was listed among six alternates for the team, USA Volleyball said, in case one of the players on the 12-man active roster cannot compete for some reason.
The Americans are hoping to defend the gold medal they won at the 2008 Beijing Games, where Lambourne played a pivotal role as a libero. Middle blocker Holmes is making his first Olympic appearance.
