Delgado, who played high school basketball at nearby Springville High, will sign with BYU when the signing period for basketball begins in April, according to his junior college coach, former Utahn Russell Beck.
Delgado is averaging 19.7 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game for 18-3 Western Nebraska, which is ranked No. 19 in this weeks’ NJCAA national poll.
He visited BYU this past weekend.
The Cougars will lose Noah Hartsock and Charles Abouo to graduation after this season. Returning missionary Tyler Haws will fill one of those scholarships, and now Delgado will apparently get the other.
The two high school players who signed with BYU last November are expected to go on church missions before enrolling at BYU. Those two are 6-3 guard Cory Calvert of Parker, Colo., and 6-4 guard Jordan Chatman of Camas, Wash.
