• The second night of EVE, downtown Salt Lake City's three-night end-of-year party, happens tonight inside and in front of the Salt Palace, 100 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City. Events run from 6 to 10 p.m., though other venues have things happening at different times. (Check the EVE website for details.) A pass is $10 for adults, and kids under 10 get in free with a paid adult admission; passes available at Maverik or Fresh Market stores, or at the gate.

• Ballet West presents "The Nutty Nutcracker," a comical revamp of the troupe's classic "Nutcracker" choreography, tonight at the Capitol Theatre, 50 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 7 (and repeats Friday at 2 p.m.). Tickets avaialble at ArtTix.

• The Utah Symphony presents "The Blue Planet Live," in which the symphony accompanies (and Sen. Orrin Hatch narrates to) ocean footage from the Discovery Channel's "Blue Planet" series, at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Concert starts at 8. Tickets available at ArtTix.

• Bar Deluxe, 666 S. State St., Salt Lake City, also gets a jump on 2011, with a Faux New Year's Eve party. On the bill: Andy Frasco & The UN, and Marinade. The party starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5, at 24Tix.
