Redford is one of seven recipients of the 2010 National Awards for Citizen Diplomacy, given out by the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy.
The award goes to people "for their extraordinary work to increase American citizen engagement in international affairs and their outstanding contributions in fostering cross-cultural understanding."
The award comes with a $5,000 prize, given to the a citizen diplomatic program or non-profit group of the recipient's choice.
