For those waiting for Wednesday to hear who will start at quarterback — well, get ready to wait a little longer.

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said on a Tuesday Pac-12 conference call that the Utes will decide who their starting quarterback will be "in the next day or two" but "we won't announce it publicly."

Whittingham had suggested Monday that he would choose between incumbent Travis Wilson and transfer Kendal Thompson and release a new depth chart on Wednesday. But it seems now, if the Utes release a new depth chart, it won't answer the question everyone's asking.

Wilson has started all five games for the 4-1 Utes, but has struggled in his last two match-ups. Coaches swapped in Thompson for a drive against UCLA, and the Oklahoma product played well enough to finish out the game and lead Utah to a 30-28 win. Thompson's running ability was particularly effective on the game-winning drive that led to Andy Phillips' 29-yard field goal.

Thompson was 10 for 13 passing with 95 yards and a touchdown, and added 83 yards rushing on 13 carries. For the season, Wilson has thrown for 788 yards and seven touchdowns and is completing 57.4 percent of his passes.

The competition has been tight since Thompson arrived this summer from Oklahoma, thrown into the mix with Wilson who was coming off a season-ending medical condition in 2013.
