Just when he offseason was starting to feel so sleepy, something shakes up.
The Utes were counting on former Bingham star Harvey Langi to come back into the fold after his LDS mission to help bolster defensive depth. But that's now up in the air as Langi weighs a decision to transfer to BYU, where he would be good to play as soon as this fall. Langi is meeting with Whittingham on Tuesday to hear the Utes' pitch.
There may be no Holy War this fall, but Utah and BYU's rivalry flame continues to burn, apparently.

Football • Even while the Langi situation may leave Utah without one of the team's most intriguing athletes, the team has recruited another. Athlete George Wilson from California committed this past Sunday, growing the Utes' class so far to 10. Morgan Scalley spoke with the Tribune about the program's recruiting formula last week as the team looks for more Pac-12 level athletes. Award watchlist season has begun, and so far Dres Anderson, Tom Hackett and Andy Phillips are among those who could be in the hunt for postseason honors - albeit we haven't played a down yet. Travis Wilson was a counselor at Elite 11, and did an interview with NFL.com about coming back from his injury.
Men's basketball • Delon Wright continues to generate buzz even in the middle of the offseason, getting an invite to the Lebron James Skills Academy. He got written up by NBC Sports after his performance there. The Utes mourned the passing of Billy McGill, an All-American center who went on to become a top overall pick in the NBA Draft.
