The Utes continue to be conservative with quarterback Travis Wilson, who practiced only on a very limited basis Thursday, said coach Kyle Whittingham.
Expectations are Wilson will participate in Saturday's scrimmage.
Whittingham also said James Poole has the edge on the No. 2 running back spot, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said Thursday.
The 6-foot, 196-pound Poole gives the Utes a different look than starter Kelvin York (5-11, 220).
"He is a more elusive, perimeter guy," he said.
