With all the position battles going on, Utah made very few changes on its latest depth chart, which was released Monday.
Most notable was the presence of senior defensive tackle Latu Heimuli listed as a possible starter. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Heimuli has been hampered by injuries throughout his career but now is battling LT Tuipulotu (6-1, 305) and Stevie Tu'ikolovatu (6-1, 320) for a starting role.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said last week if he can stay healthy, he'll be the comeback story of the year.
As for the depth chart, look for more changes to come after Tuesday's scrimmage.
The Utes hope to get in 75 to 80 plays, Whittingham said.
Couple of things the Utes want to see:
*More leadership out of quarterback Travis Wilson. "You have to be a leader of the team, some days he still hasn't figured that part out," Whittingham said.
*A productive run game where Kelvin York is the No. 1 guy but James Poole, Lucky Radley and Karl Williams are battling for snaps.
*Continued improvement from the linebackers. Sophomore Travis Still ended Monday's practice with an interception and Whittingham praised the group for their efforts following Monday's practice.
*A good effort by receiver Anthony Denham, who currently is in the lead for the No. 3 spot. However, JC transfer Andre Lewis is practicing again after missing most of last week with a hamstring injury and he could push Denham.
