As was first reported by the Tribune on Wednesday, East High point guard Parker Van Dyke will be a Ute next season after all.
He had originally planned to go on an LDS Church Mission, but will play and could possibly crack Utah's rotation in his freshman season.

The reasons are simple: Utah needs a point guard with size and length, and the 6-foot-3 Van Dyke offers both.
The Utes need a guy who can create his own shot. Van Dyke does that.
Utah needs a guy that can push the ball and pressure a defense. That's Van Dyke.
His play at East has helped with this decision. Van Dyke is the leading scorer in Class 4A basketball, and he's been having a terrific senior season. He is expected to compete with incumbent Glen Dean and current freshman Brandon Taylor for time.
