Utah gymnasts picked to finish second in league

Utah's gymnastics team was picked to finish second in the Pac-12 preseason poll with the Utes barely edged out by UCLA.
The Bruins, who won the title a year ago, received 46 points and four first-place votes. Utah had 44 points and four first-place votes.
Stanford was third with 38 points followed by Oregon State (31), Washington (23), Arizona (21), Arizona State (11) and Cal (10).
Utah opens the season at UCLA on Jan. 12.
The Bruins announced this week that junior Samantha Peszek, the 2011 NCAA balance beam champion, will miss the 2013 season after injuring her Achilles tendon in practice.
