Utah receiver Christopher doesn't care where he plays, he just wants to play

After going from being Utah's top receiver to getting no reps, Utah senior DeVonte Christopher is excited to have any chance to play Saturday against Arizona, even if it means on defense.

"I just want to be out there," he said. "It's my last game here, it's crazy how time flies."

Christopher, who has had just one catch in the last four games, could see time in the secondary as well as a receiver against the Wildcats.

Christopher said the idea of playing both on offense and defense would be 'just like high school.'

"Playing both ways, the good thing is if you get mad on a mistake on offense, you get a chance to make up for it on defense," he said.

Christopher said Utah assistant coach Morgan Scalley said to just 'get the football.'

"They throw the ball amazingly," he said of Arizona.

Christopher believes the Utes can beat Arizona and Colorado to be bowl eligible.

"It's weird to have to fight to get to bowl eligibility, it's a different experience," he said. "I'm definitely looking forward to this challenge."

Christopher has been getting some reps with the starters on offense too and said he has tried to practice harder this week to earn time.

"I'm basically being myself, coming out here, being happy with a positive attitude," he said. "Our backs are to the wall, it'smy senior year and all that type of stuff and I've got to come out here and practice hard. My downfall has been my practice habits and I'm trying my best to correct them."

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said Christopher had a good week of practice but remained vague as to how much time Christopher could get Saturday.

"We've had some young guys really step up and emerge as guys we can count on as well," he said.
