Senior guard Jarred DuBois has been ruled out for tomorrow night's season-opener against Willamette.
A hip injury is the reason. DuBois has been feeling pain in the hip for the past few weeks. He hasn't practiced since Sunday and will be re-evaluated on Monday, according to coach Larry Krystkowiak.
DuBois is now the third projected starter to miss time with an injury. David Foster is out for the season after breaking his foot. Aaron Dotson will miss at least the next month with a stress fracture in his foot.
Unlike the first two, DuBois' injury is not considered serious. He is listed as day-to-day.
In his place, Justin Seymour will probably start tomorrow night.
Seymour is a freshman guard out of Georgia who has played well in practice. He would've received significant minutes regardless. This latest injury just speeds up the process a little.
With that, the Utes will now likely start two freshmen, with Jordan Loveridge being the other rookie in the lineup.
"We know that Justin is a good player," senior point guard Glen Dean said. "We need him to play his game, come out, hit the open jumper and play good defense. We don't want him to feel like he has to score 15 points per game."
