Utah coach Kyle Whittingham has kept a fairly relaxed demeanor despite the Utes' struggles. However, he admits Utah's season is one of the most frustrating he has had.
Whittingham has maintained the Utes are an improved team from 2011, even if the record doesn't indicate such.
"It's right up there," he said Tuesday when asked how frustrating this season is for him. "I'll have to tell you at the end, and there is a lot of football left but it has been frustrating. Case in point, late in the second half you look up at the scoreboard and see Oregon State with 120 yards of offense and we are down 21-7 and you think that can't be. We have had our frustrations but we are working through it."
The 2-5 Utes are in danger of failing to qualify for a bowl game for the first time since 2002. Whittingham said his team has talent, it just hasn't put together a full game.
"We have progressed," he said. We are moving the ball between the 20s but we aren't finishing drives for whatever reason. We're not converting for touchdowns or scoring points and we have to get that solved."
