Christopher on catches and chemistry
Many have wondered just how much Utah's revolving door on the offensive coordinator's office has affected the Utes. Well, at least one receiver says it is a factor in his poor play this year. Utah receiver DeVonte Christopher said his struggles are his own fault, but the senior also said Utah's ever-changing offenses have affected him and others. "The offense is taking a lot of heat and it's well deserved, there is no reason we should have this many athletes and be ranked 2-5 and last in offense," he said. "It's wild to think about, but we have to keep playing football, we can't use that as an excuse." Christopher said working with five different coordinators has hurt the carryover from one year to another for him. Adding to his struggles is a difficulty finding a chemistry similar to the one he had with veteran Jordan Wynn, he said. "Me and Jordan, we watched hours and hours of film together and you know, we read each other's minds when we are out there and me and Travis don't have that same mental process," he said. "He is a freshman quarterback and he has to get his checks and the game hasn't completely slowed down for him," Christopher said of Wilson. "Sometimes you see us pressing the clock a little bit and those things. I don't want to over-bear on him and say we need to get on the same page, we need to do this and this and take time away from him learning and growing on his own as a player, but it's something we need to work on." Christopher's comments might seem controversial to some since few have spoken out how all the coaching changes have affected them but one has to think others probably feel similar to Christopher.
