White ready to run for Utes

Utah running back John White had a big smile on his face Tuesday following the Utes' practice. It was a new attitude for a back who has been frustrated by his lack of carries.

Apparently, he has heard the news he'll be getting a lot more carries in the future.

"Hallelujah," he said with a laugh. "That is all I have to say. I definiteily want the ball in my hands. I feel like they trust me when the ball is in my hands and I will make plays, but every game comes with its own gameplan and you have to stick to it."

White said he has been feeling the need for a little redepmtion ever since the ASU game when he rushed just 14 times for 18 yards.

"I've been feeling it since then," he said. "The USC week I worked hard and felt I ran the ball well and then I came back with the UCLA game and felt I ran the ball well so I'm hoping I get the ball in my hands a lot more and they trust me making plays."

White will be getting more carries, according to Utah coach Kyle Whittingham.

With quarterback changes and offensive overhauls, the offense has definitely been Utah's main focus in recent weeks. However, the biggest concern for the Utes it seems as they prepare for Oregon State isn't their own offense, but what the Beavers might do with their offense.

The Utes are giving OSU receivers Brandin Cooks and Markus Wheaton plenty of respect.

"I thought when we played USC that Robert Woods and Marqise Lee were as good as any tandem in the league, but these guys are right there," Whittingham said.

The key for the Utes will be getting pressure on quarterback Cody Vaz, he said.

"For us to win the football game, you have to have pressure," he said.
