Overlapping with the recent introduction of the Utes' black helmets,a leather helmet from 1928 is part of a Utah football display thatwill remain open to the public (free) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. dailythrough Friday on the fourth floor of the University of Utah'sMarriott Library.Parking is available at the nearby Campus Store, west of the library.The collection of photographs, game programs and other memorabiliashows the football team's evolution from Cummings Field on campus toUte Stadium, which was dedicated in 1927 on the site of the currentRice-Eccles Stadium.Among the more interesting photos are feature shots of formeroffensive guard Norm Chow, quarterback Lee Grosscup and coach IkeArmstrong, who's pictured with legendary Notre Dame coach KnuteRockne. There are also a team photo of the school's first squad in1892, shots of the school band through the years and a 1942 homeschedule that advertises a $7 season ticket. A nice display from the1964 Liberty Bowl, played indoors in Atlantic City, N.J., is amongother attractions.A loop of highlights from various games plays continuously.
