The BCS released a statement today following two days of meetings in which the college football post-season was discussed. The conclusion out of the meetings? The topic will continue to be discussed.
In short the BCS acknowledged fans want bowl games played closer to Jan. 1 and they want to "protect college football's regular season which is the best and most meaningful in sports."
The statement went on to say "We want to preserve the great bowl tradition while making it better and more attractive."
There has been some talk the bowl system could go to a 'plus one' model, where the top four teams are paired up and the winners of the two games play for the national title.
Of course there would be arguments over which four teams deserve to be ranked in one of those spots, but at least it would give college football some semblance of a playoff.
The BCS statement is posted in full on the organization's facebook page.
