The Utah Utes are getting the help they need along their defensive line in a big way as Visesio Salt, a product of Brighton H.S. who went on a mission before playing at Mt. San Antonio Community College, has switched his commitment from Florida to Utah.
Salt said he made the switch so he could play in front of family members and friends.
"I've been away from home for too long now," he said. "It's time that I play my last two years in front of my family and friends."
Salt said he plans to enroll in the fall.
While playing for the Gators was enticing, Salt said his family won out. Besides, now that the Utes are in a BCS conference, he sees Utah's chances of getting national exposure good as well.
"When it comes to my family, I'm going to do what is best for us and that is being here at home in Utah with all of them," he said.
In another bit of recruiting news, it appears the Utes have given former offensive coordinator Norm Chow a nice going away present.
Kiha Sai, an offensive lineman who was one of Utah's first commitments for 2012, has switched his commitment to Hawaii.
Sai, whose older brother is current Ute Kapua Sai, was told by the Utes he might want to look elsewhere once the Utes were so successful in recruiting higher rated linemen. Keeping Sai, who is from Honoulu, at home will be a big deal for Chow, who has said all along recruiting Hawaiian players will be crucial for him as he builds his program.
