According to the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Georgia Tech offensive tackle Phil Smith has been suspended for the bowl game and won't play. He is the second starter who will sit out the Dec. 31 game against Utah as cornerback Louis Young will miss the game for disciplinary reasons.
As for the Utes, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham told reporters Tuesday that all of his players are in good standing for the bowl game, academic and otherwise, and doesn't anticipate any of his players missing the contest for similar violations.
