Utah State coach Matt Wells said he wasn't going to allow any self pity with all the injuries the Aggies have had this year. He said it several times, like a guy who might still be trying to convince himself of that philosophy. The Aggies have lost five players to season-ending injuries and with Garretson now sidelined, it seems this might be as good a time as any for a team to get a little dejected. Wells said he didn't understand why there have been so many injuries, but did say he is convinced his team will keep a good attitude. "They are tough minded here and we'll do it altogether," he said. As for the quarterback situation, the Aggies are still waiting for an MRI on Garretson to know the full extent of the injury he suffered Saturday to his right wrist. For now, senior Craig Harrison is tabbed as the starter with freshman Kent Myers as the backup. Wells didn't hide the fact that the Aggies need more from the run game to be successful. Expect to see more out of freshman LaJuan Hunt and linebacker Nick Vigil who has been effective in the run game. Hunt has earned more snaps while Vigil was used more as a decoy against Colorado State and got just one carry. Wells also said he was mindful of the amount of snaps he got since he was instrumental in stopping CSU's strong offense. "If we need Nick Vigil to win a game we'll use him more," he said. As for UNLV, Wells said the Rebels' offense is better than many may think it is after he watched tape of UNLV's overtime win over Fresno State. "They've got some talent," he said. "They did a good job of moving the ball up and down the field and capitalized on some things."
