Senior tennis player McKenzie Davis won the ITA Mountain Region Championships with a 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 win over Utah's Tereza Beckerova Sunday to snag an individual title for herself and make a mark in the USU record books as well. Beckerova was the top seed and the 76th ranked player in the country. Davis is the first Aggie to win the ITA Mountain region title and will be the first USU player to compete at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships held Nov. 6-9 in Flushing Meadows, NY. "This was truly a special moment in the history of Utah State tennis," said USU coach Sean McInerney. "McKenzie has worked so hard over the years and it all came together this week." Also on a positive note was the soccer team which took a 2-0 win at New Mexico Sunday with Jessica Brooksby and Taryn Rose scoring the goals while keeper Jeannie Woller earned the shutout.
