Obviously losing Darell Garretson to an injury on Saturday puts a huge downer on the weekend for Aggie fans, but not all is doom and gloom. With the way the defense is playing, I can still see the Aggies winning five of their last six games, which is exactly what I'd project even with Garretson playing. The most difficult game on the schedule remains that road game at Boise State on Nov. 29, a game the Aggies would have been hard pressed to win anyway. The other team that is looking good is San Jose State, which is coming off a 27-20 overtime win at Wyoming, but at least the Aggies get the Spartans at home, and not until Nov. 21. By then, hopefully for Aggie fans the coaches will have made the proper adjustments (insert run game here) and be prepared to defend home turf against the Spartans. As for the rest of the schedule, UNLV, Hawaii, Wyoming and New Mexico are a combined 9-19. I maintain the Aggies can win all of those games. The Aggies might not be able to knock off the Broncos, but it would still be a good season for a team that lost two quarterbacks. As for Garretson, we'll get official word on his status at Monday's press conference. Utah State coach Matt Wells wanted to confirm things with more medical exams and discuss matters with his other coaches before making an announcement, but don't expect to hear good news Monday.
