Former Aggies Larsen, Tialavea, more sign as NFL undrafted free agents

Utah State sent a few defensive backs to the pros in the NFL Draft's fourth round, as safety Maurice Alexander went to the the St. Louis Rams, and the Detroit Lions scooped up cornerback Nevin Lawson.

But there are more Aggies who will wind up in the NFL, only as undrafted free agents. Here's a running tally — to be updated — of which Utah State gridiron products are joining NFL teams:

C Tyler Larsen • Maybe the most unexpected of the UFAs, he's headed to the Miami Dolphins to join former Aggie Will Davis. Larsen was commonly graded as one of the draft's best centers, and probably has among the best shots to make an NFL roster this fall.

TE D.J. Tialavea • The blocking tight end confirmed that he's joining the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's welcome news for his family, which has been through a lot if you missed the Tribune's front page story.

LB Jake Doughty • A one-time walk-on, Doughty will get his shot to make the team with the Green Bay Packers, his agent confirmed.

DT A.J. Pataiali'i • The former Snow standout and all-MWC tackle gets to join another Utahn, Haloti Ngata, with the Baltimore Ravens, according to his agent.

CB Tay Glover-Wright • Utah State confirmed that he would be joining the Atlanta Falcons, close to his hometown.

RB Joey DeMartino • The San Diego native will have to go midwest as he signs with the Kansas City Chiefs, the school confirmed.

OT Eric Schultz • Another one of Utah's all-conference linemen, Schultz goes back to his home state for mini-camp with the Seattle Seahawks, his agent said.

WR Travis Van Leeuwen • He'll skip to two very different mini-camps: This week, he's in Green Bay, and next week he'll go to Miami to try to catch on, his agent said.
