(Chris Detrick | The Salt Lake Tribune) Members of the football team pose for pictures after the game at Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium Saturday November 30, 2013. Utah State defeated Wyoming 35-7. The Aggies will visit Fresno State in the title game next Saturday to complete their first season of MW competition.
Matt Wells breaks down the Utah State NFL Combine prospects

As we previewed yesterday, there are four Aggies in the NFL Combine which has begun and will be televised starting tomorrow. It's the most players Utah State has ever sent to the Combine, and all four will be looking to improve their stock for the upcoming NFL Draft in May.

Before they hit the field on NFL Network starting tomorrow, I thought it might be nice to add a little breakdown on the blog by one of the people who knows all the four: Aggies coach Matt Wells.

There's bias, sure, but no one else knows quite as well what these pro prospects have going for them. While scouts and press wil have the opportunity to critique and probe for weaknesses this weekend, here's the positives about the Aggies in the Combine.

Maurice Alexander, safety • "What jumps out for him as far as scouts and coaches are concerned is that he looks the part: He's big and fast. He's what NFL safties look like. He's a great blitzer, and moving from outside linebacker to that safety spot shows his intelligence. He's got a head for the game. He's a great tackler in open space. He has a lot of toughness."

Tyler Larsen, center • "Physically, he's got the height, he's got the weight, and he's got the strength to play at the next level. But he's also got a smart, sound football mind. He anchored our line for years, and is very good in the run game. He has a great ability to get to the second level. I think he's strong enough to be evaluated as a guard."

Nevin Lawson, cornerback • "What Nevin brings is a lot of confidence. He's got good speed, he's ultra aggressive and he has ultra confidence. He's got good hips, which give him the ability to get in and out of breaks. And what sometimes is overlooked is he's a good tackler in open space. I'm confident he'll be the next NFL corner out of Utah State."

D.J. Tialavea, tight end • "There's no question he's done enough to show what kind of player he is. It says a lot that NFL Gms, scouts and coaches are interested in him after only playing half the year. His film speaks for itself. He can really come off the ball, he has the ability to block defensive ends. He has the skill set of an H-back as well, he can can go in motion. He really improved his hands and route running in the last year."

Coverage of the Combine starts Saturday at 7 a.m. MT on NFL Network and continues through Tuesday.
