The Sunshine State is one of the richest recruiting beds in the country, and Utah State's signing class mined something very specific from Florida this year: Speed.
The Aggies wanted to add more fast players, and they got it with three high school prospects they believe could have big careers at Utah State: tight end Marcus Mosely, safety Aaron Wade, and running back LaJuan Hunt.
Mosely and Wade both committed just over month ago, with Mosely deciding shortly before the holidays and Wade shortly after. Both have three-star ratings by at least one recruiting site. Mosely is considered a big, physical pass-catcher who can gun it while Wade should have good size and speed in the secondary.
Hunt was a late addition, officially committing over the weekend. The versatile running back from Fort Lauderdale will help replace two graduating running backs who were big contributors at Utah State.
"It felt great to be signing officially," Hunt said. "I'm happy to be signed. I love AggieNation fans. They seem pretty excited about me coming up there, and I'm excited to be coming up there, too."
Junior college receiver Devonte Robinson, a former player at West Virginia, has signed as well. Robinson is from DelRay Beach.
Utah State has long held Florida as an important recruiting ground. Several of the team's big contributors - Nevin Lawson, Travis Reynolds, Jojo Natson - hail from Florida. Receivers coach Jovon Bouknight has pulled some strong talent from the state in recent years, and the coaching staff believes this year is no exception.
"It's a family environment out there," Hunt said. "More Florida boys should come out and join the Aggie family."
