Utah State football gets commitment from Snow College TE

The Aggie football team has secured a commitment from Snow College tight end Landon Horne, multiple sources have confirmed.

The 6-foot-3, 239-pound Horne, a Kaysville, Utah, native, is expected to sign and enroll by Jan. 15, but perhaps as soon as the end of the week. After a redshirt year, an LDS Church mission and a standout freshman effort, he'll have three years to play three seasons in Logan.

In Horne, Badgers coach Britt Maughan said, Utah State is getting a versatile offensive player who could fill an H-back role as well as a standard tight end. The freshman led his team in receptions (39), receiving yards (406) and receiving touchdowns (5).

"He did a lot of things at the tight end position for us - a lot of things," Maughan said. "He made blocks for us, but we also went to him for first downs, to move the chains and things like that. We went to him when we needed a play in crunch times."

At Davis High, Horne went with the Darts to the 2009 5A football championship. Davis coach Ryan Bishop called him "a great kid and an even better football player." He was also a double-digit scorer on the basketball team.

Maughan sees Horne not as a typical tight end, but as more of an H-back in the vein of Keegan Andersen.

"He's a mover behind the line," he said. "He can wham block and things like that. He can get out and make a catch."

His Hudl highlights can be found here.

Horne has confirmed his commitment but is reserving further comment until he signs.
