It was kind of a wild weekend in the Mountain West, and the conference's premier team made a big name for itself with one of the rarest non-conference wins any team can get.

San Diego State's win at Kansas, a venue where the Jayhawks have lost only nine games under Bill Self, led the weekend's big results. But there were some other surprises. Let's take a quick spin around the conference block — check out the stories below by clicking the links.

• San Diego State's surprising upset of No. 16 Kansas was arguably the biggest regular season win in the Aztecs' history. The Jayhawks had won 68 straight non-conference games at home headed into the match. USA Today was among the outlets talking up SDSU's potential down the road. Assuming the Aztecs finish in the top 3 in the conference, they're looking like a lock for the Big Dance.

• Nevada eeked out a victory in a visit to Wyoming, a result that should interest Utah State fans scouting out their next opponent. One of the biggest differences for the Wolfpack has been A.J. West, a just-eligible forward who has been a defensive presence in the post. For the Cowboys, frustration is mounting after a number of close losses.

• Air Force showed it might be for real with an upset of UNLV, a result that would've seemed like a head-scratcher only a week ago. The Falcons broke a long road losing streak, another bit of evidence that they may be turning things around after a rough start to the season. Meanwhile, the Rebels have a lot of lingering questions about their defense.

• New Mexico held on for a close win over Colorado State in the Pit. Lobos coach Craig Neal wasn't too much into celebration, preferring to focus on how his team has allowed opponents to make huge late runs. On the other side, the Rams have worries about their size - the paint has been a rough zone for them this year.

• Boise State bounced Fresno State at home, grabbing an 86-79 win. The Broncos feel very good about their start, if not their finish. The Bulldogs are figuring out how to stop teams after getting railroaded twice to start Mountain West play.
