Utah State appears to have snagged a new commitment for the 2013 class.

Jojo McGlaston, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Dublin High (Calif.) who is rated a 3-star prospect by ESPN, was tweeted out indications of his commitment to Utah State on Tuesday afternoon. Assuming McGlaston joins the Aggies next year, he adds youth and athleticism to a key area of need for the program.

McGlaston is starring for Dublin this year, recently dropping 31 points to help the Gaels win the school's first league championship in 40 years — check out this half-court alley-oop that he finished in the game. His highlight tape, posted above, shows an athlete who can handle, shoot and dunk.

McGlaston visited Utah State this weekend along with fellow 2013 commit Carson Shanks. He got a warm reception from Aggies fans, who chanted "Future Aggie" when the two recruits walked in. Apparently watching Utah State upset New Mexico State made an impression.

Rivals.com lists Sacramento State and San Jose State as other suitors who had offered McGlaston. A Scout.com story from December mentioned that McGlaston had some steps to qualifying academically.

The commitment is a huge boon to Utah State, which has only guard Marcel Davis remaining as an underclassman in the backcourt on the current roster. Guard Jalen Moore is also coming in the class of 2013, but Spencer Butterfield, Preston Medlin, Marvin Jean and TeNale Roland all have only have one year left. After the 2013-2014 season, the mass exodus of graduation will leave holes at the guard spots in particular.

Depth has been a huge issue this year for the Aggies in the guard spots: Butterfield, Roland, Jean and Davis are currently juggling the three backcourt positions at the moment after injuries and departures by freshmen Quincy Bair and Riley Bradshaw.

McGlaston's athletic ability also could be well utilized in the Mountain West, where Utah State will play next season. The MWC has been consistently rated as one of the top four conferences this year, and includes such powers as San Diego State, New Mexico, UNLV and Colorado State.

With McGlaston now in the fold, Utah State expects to bring in four players next year, including Moore, Shanks, and transfer Kyle Davis.
