Up and down Senior Bowl week for Aggie cornerback Will Davis
Utah State cornerback Will Davis is getting a taste of what the NFL might be like this week, facing off against the top college prospects in the Senior Bowl.
It been about what you might expect for a guy who just wrapped up his second season of Division I football: a few struggles, a few good things in that first week.
Not everyone was expecting Davis to be as raw as he was. The New York Times pointed out in its blog, "Among the corners, Utah State Aggie Will Davis is struggling with his footwork more than expected ... ".
One of the less fun moments for Davis was getting beat by former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson on a double-move as Robinson attempts to prove he belongs in the NFL as an all-purpose playmaker. He also gave up a big play to Marshall's Aaron Dobson.
But still, other outlets had positive things to say about Davis.
• Mel Kiper Jr. is still high on him, according to the Dearborn Press and Guide. He could be a target for the Detroit Lions in the early rounds.
• NEPatriotsDraft.com pointed out Davis' hips as a sure sign of his athleticism.
• Mlive.com said Davis has adjusted this week to the level of play, which took time since he came from a smaller school.
• Dennis Allen, one of the coaches at the bowl, said he thought Davis was covering well in practice.
Check out the Senior Bowl on Saturday at 3 p.m.
