Utah State announced another coach staying on the football staff on Thursday afternoon.

Kendrick Shaver, the cornerbacks coach who helped mentor All-American Will Davis, will stay in Logan, another experienced hand who joined the program at the same time as new head coach Matt Wells.

"I'm excited to remain on staff at Utah State and be able to continue to work with the young men in this program that I have built relationships with over the past two years," said Shaver in a school news release.

Shaver was FootballScoop's Co-Defensive Backs National coach of the year after a season in which he helped lead the No. 10 pass efficiency defense and No. 34 passing yardage defense. Utah State was also No. 8 nationally in scorind defense and No. 15 in total yardage defense.

Among his more notable achievements is sculpting junior college transfer Will Davis into an All-American corner, helping him develop into a legitmate NFL prospect. Returning is junior corner Nevin Lawson, who was an all-WAC player.

Shaver was a defensive back at Missouri State, and has had coaching tenures at Eastern Kentucky, Northern Oklahoma A&M and Northern Colorado.

Frank Maile is the only other staffer who has been officially announced under Wells.
