Senior cornerback Will Davis has been turning heads with his five-game stretch of getting an interception, and on Monday got recognition for doing something no other Aggie has done in five years.

Davis was named the Western Athletic Conference player of the week for his performance against Idaho after returning a pick for a touchdown, one of Utah State's three interceptions that day. No one in the program had scored on an interception return since 2007.

The WAC announced the award in a Monday news release. The senior's contributions were a big reason the Aggies were able to hold the Vandals to only 52 yards passing — the fewest by an Aggie opponent since 1998 — in a 45-9 victory that gave Utah State an outright WAC championship and 10 wins.

Davis has been a hot name of late as the Aggies have been one of the top defenses in the nation, and the corner accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl two weeks ago.

Finishing as one of the runnners-up in the offensive honors was senior running back Kerwynn Williams, who had 110 rushing yards, 39 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
