USU Hoops: Jean feels blessed, relieved to be back in Aggie fold

It didn't look good for Marvin Jean three weeks ago.

His summer had fallen apart. He tore ligaments in his thumb at USU during summer workouts. He lost his phone in New York, losing track with Aggie coaches, who thought he wasn't doing what was needed academically.

Worst of all, Jean didn't appear to pass a class needed. He couldn't take his scholarship, and it looked like he wouldn't play college hoops this upcoming season.

"A lot of it was all a mix up," Jean said. "I appreciate things a lot more now."

Jean is eligible to play. His scholarship is gone, but he will walk on this season with the gaurantee of a free ride for his senior season. He was all set to play at the University of Bridgeport, a Division II school in Connecticut. Instead, he will play for the Aggies.

"Logan is where I belong," Jean told The Tribune on Sunday. "I'm blessed to be in this position."

Jean will be here on Tuesday. He says that his class schedule is finished, and that his academics are waiting.

He brings a jolt of athleticism, much needed, to USU's small forward spot. At 6-foot-5 and a lefty, he reminds Aggie fans of Pooh Williams. He will compete with Danny Berger and Spencer Butterfield for time at the wing positions.
